Museum of Me
As an assignment, I went to the website Museum of me .
This website uses one's personal datas from his/ her Facebook account to create an exhibition on a virtual museum. This exhibition represents your social life, thanks to personal pictures, words that discribe you best and your friends on Facebook.
I made an exhibition of myself to see what it would look like.
This was quite fun and nice to see what was the result.
Indeed, the exhibition is really well made. We really have the impression to me in a museum or some scene of a movie where the director would like to sum up one of his characters's life shortly.
My impression was that is was a little bit weird to see my life resumed as quickly.
Furthermore, the pictures chosen were not really representative.
Indeed, there were some pictures of my real friends, those I often talk to. But there were also some pictures of what I would call my Facebook Friends, those I talk to once a year or even not a all.
Then the words used to describe me were words anyone would use, such as "birthday". Facebook helps us remember our friends' birthday, so yes, when the occasion comes, I wish a happy birthay to my friend. Everybody does that...
Finally, I absolutly don't see the point of this website. It uses personal datas and we don't know if they keep any records of them. In addition, when the exhibition is done, then yes it's nice but what's the point?
